Welcome to the home page for the Maine Adult Correctional Education Association. The association is a statewide organization dedicated to promoting the mission of adult correctional education in the State of Maine. Founded in 1986, the MACEA is recognized and supported by the Maine Department of Corrections as well as the Maine Department of Education. Representatives from these departments, along with members from volunteer organizations, jail and prison programs officers, counselors, clergy, correctional educators, and adult learning center directors meet every other month in order to promote and improve correctional education in the fifteen county jails and the six state correctional facilities.

Every spring the MACEA sponsors an annual conference where correctional educators have a chance to attend workshops dedicated to the issues that deal particularly with their field. Additionally, these conferences allow professionals a chance to network and to recognize their peers and themselves for the extraordinary achievements that are being made in the field of correctional education.

Currently the MACEA's coordinator is Bob Aubrey. Membership is open to anyone who supports the mission statement and wishes to actively participate in MACEA activities. Anyone who is interested in enlisting in the MACEA, or simply wishes more information, should feel free to contact Mr. Aubrey.
